It doesnt show many apps like MonoDevelop.
It doesnt show many apps like MonoDevelop.
What it doesnt tell in the App Store description: It doesnt recognize all windows in all spaces until you have activated it manually in every space. That means its usually missing some windows in the list, making it utterly useless. There is a help text saying why this happens, but I dont care about the why. The core functionality isnt working, no explanation improves that.
Hi, just wanted to say that it works like a charm on yosemite if you do this: - System Preferences > Security and Privacy > Privacy Tab > Accesibility > plus button > add System Preferences.app - rememeber to click lock on left bottom corner to unlock Thanks. No witchdaemon exception anymore. PS: Für alle die das andere Review unten gelesen haben. Das ist vollkommen normal Rechte zu vergeben für alle Daemons notwendig unter UNIX-artigen Systemen laufen sollen.
This is a handy app that Ive only just started to play around with. However, a couple things jumped out at me that I was hoping this app could handle. One being that it would be great if you could switch between open tabs in a browser window, rather than just browser windows. The other is that there doesnt seem to be a way to hide the app icon. Its always running on the dock. I find apps like this generally allow you to hide the icon so to reduce clutter. I apologize if its a setting Im glancing over... UPDATE: The app lets you run it as a background process when you go to quit it - missed it on my initial review.
I have always missed MS way of switching to particular windows rather than switching to applications and then having to switch within the app the proper window. One of the nice side effects of switching, via Witch, to a particular window is that it doesnt raise all the windows of the target application to the front. With the default Mac OSX behavior, I would often switch to another app only to have to raise the previous apps window again so I could see the two apps at the same time. Witch solves this problem beautifly. A definite must have app in my books.
I love having multiple Lion desktops open, but was having trouble efficiently flipping between windows and apps on various desktops. Witch fills that gap very nicely. Take the time to view the very nice video they have on their website. I love the little number badges that show which Lion desktop (space) each window is sitting in, but that feature is not enabled until you know how to use the appropriate feature checkboxes. And you need to activate Witch in each Lion desktop to let it calibrate to your situation. Now I can zip around Lions desktops quickly. I am still experimenting, but I think Witch "forgets" that a Word document is open in another Lion desktop until I relaunch it in that desktop next time Im back there. Hence 4 not 5 stars for now. [Really only one thing left that I need to customize my iMac just right: a way of working on a Lion desktop other than the one where Mail is sitting, but stay there to compose a new message or open an incoming message. But thats not Witchs problem!]
Good app. Supports spaces. Fast. Default theme looks a bit dated. Wish it supported listing application tabs (e.g. Chrome tabs), and allowed for keyword searching based on window title.
I do not know what happened, but this app just works again. I did not use this for several months. Probably, some updates in Mac OS let witch work fine again.
This app saves my bacon all-day-long. And for the life of me, I can’t figure out why this isn’t in the OS already. The ability to switch between open windows - particularly windows within an app - say Safari - is paramount for quick computing. This is the FIRST app I install when I get a new computer, and you should too.
I have tried HyperSwitch, Optimal Layout, Apple’s Exposé, Contexts and finally found the one that meets my needs. Witch works great on Mac OS Sierra beta and has the best customization of its apperance. But best of all, it just works!
Witch fills the gap between Exposé and Dock Exposé to make it easy to switch to any open window in any open application all from the keyboard. You can customize the look and feel to make it work for you as well. This is also a perfect switchers utility for users who come from Windows and expect Cmd/Alt Tab to switch between any window and Witch brings that to the Mac in the most make like way! Highly recommended!
Very good tool for switching between open applications, more fuctionality than command/tab. Especially like being able to activate a window for an application that is active but has no open windows. One really big request: allow switching to any open tabs in the browser, currently only active tab is available.
Command tab changes applications, but it has several shortcomings. More like a windows verson, witch changes between windows. it is very customizable, which I love. Pop up preview windows seal the deal for me. Get it. You wont regret it. I use it 100+ times a day.
Upgrading from 2.0 (I guess) now that I have a new computer, Im really impressed with all the customizability, including the ability to list windows by most recent activity (instead of by application). Makes coding/web browsing/testing/iTunes/etc. all at the same time much easier.
Works exactly as intended. Literally makes OS X usable (I cant do without Alt-Tab!)
Faster app switching. Better control of window switching within one application. Control over display graphics/look-and-feel. Reasonably priced. Works in the background with zero performance degradation. Ive downloaded Witch on every Mac I own and love it.
I love having windows galore open on many spaces. This is great if you have the RAM to keep it all afloat, but the native window organization scheme (even with spaces) gets annoying to develop a work flow around. Lots of cmd-tab, cmd-~, expose swaps and so on to find things, which seems OK until youve done these thousands of times. If the price seems steep for a window swapper, think of how many time youll use this every day. Its well worth it, so Im glad they priced it at a point I was willing to try it! ;) Thanks a lot, Many Tricks!! (check out their other stuff too, especially Moom!)
Fabulous app!!! Easy to use and soooo useful!! Steal at $.99, good at $1.99, and worth $2.99! I always have a lot of Firefox windows open and arrayed around my desktop, and now it will never be as confusing again! Thank you!!
I love switch. I cannond deny: these guys should be working in apple and making their sofware native. For those fast typers that dont really love the mouse, they made changing tasks absolutely awesome, specially after you change the default commands for Command + Tab. About lion: they are already aware of some issues about different spaces and also fullscreened apps, it is kind of a pain to get them to appear in the list, specially if you open and close apps all the time. Even with that small glitch in lion, this app is tottally recomended, and a great improvement in lions default alt + Tab command.
Even after installation, OS X will start this app, but theres no way it will allow me to access it. Cant get support from the vendor for it, either.
